Atwell Wilson Motor Museum: Previous Events

2005


The Atwell Wilson Motor Museum attends a number of car shows each year to publicise our Museum. We also welcome all clubs who would like to visit us at the Museum in Calne.

On 29 and 30 January 2005 we attended the 26th Footman James Bristol Classic Car Show. We displayed a 1931 Singer Junior and a 1934 Alvis Speed 20 which you can see pictured below. Our thanks go to Capgemini who kindly sponsored us to attend this event. During the two-day event we gave out over 1,200 leaflets to visitors to our stand.

On 14th and 15th May 2005 we attended the excellent 20th Steam and Vintage Rally at the Castle Combe Race Circuit in Wiltshire. Over the two-day show we exhibited twelve cars on the Museum stand, ten of which are currently on show at the Museum.

On show from the Museum were:

  • Ford Cortina Mk 2 (owner: Mr & Mrs R Jose)
  • Ford Model ‘T’
  • Morris 8 Series E (owner: Mr P Parfitt)
  • Rover 95 P4
  • Singer Junior
  • Standard Little 9
  • Wolseley 4/44

Our very welcome visitor cars were:

  • Austin A35 (owner: Mr & Mrs J Scott)
  • Ford Anglia (owner: Mr & Mrs S Powney)

There was bright sunshine all day on Sunday 19 June 2005 for the Classic Car Day at the Museum in Calne which featured 100 years of Austin and Singer. Over 50 classic cars and 200 visitors attended the event. Best in show went to an immaculate 1935 Singer Le Mans Long Tail and runner up to a fantastic Austin. On 2 and 3 July 2005 we attended the Heddington Steam Rally.

On 16 and 17 July 2005 a number of our cars attended the 2005 Great Western Rally, which is run in association with the Museum.

On 10 and 11 September 2005 we attended the Beaulieu International Autojumble to publicise the Museum. Pictures of the helpers at the event are below, click on them to see a larger version.

On 4, 5 and 6 November 2005 the Friends of the Museum were at the 2005 Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham. It was a fantastic show and we displayed four vehicles:

On our stand (number 4500 in NEC Hall 4):

  • 1934 Alvis Speed 20
  • 1924 Model T Ford
  • 1968 Bedford TK Transporter

Taking part in the "live action" parades (in NEC Hall 3):

  • 1932 Standard Little 9
